Inforpress took to the streets of the municipality to hear the opinions of the population regarding the new lighting that EDEC is providing in the streets of the municipality to the people of Brava and they were satisfied with the work.
José Mendes, a resident of the village of Cova Rodela, pointed out that the new bulbs have "good lighting potential", and that in the streets where the luminaires have already been replaced by LED, visibility has improved "radically" compared to the old ones.
"I think the change was worth it, as I think we now have more safety on the streets and I hope they continue to make the replacements in all the streets and localities," he said.
Joaquim de Pina, a resident of the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte, who also shares the same opinion, said he was pleased with this "innovation", since the streets have become very bright with this new light bulb, thus providing more security for residents.
For his part, Edivaldo Lopes, an employee of the Cape Verde Electricity Distribution Company (EDEC), said that the process of replacing sodium vapor lamps with LEDs will continue, since there are 1100 lamps to be installed throughout the island and so far only 700 have been changed.
However, the same source also said that at the moment all the towns on the island have already received this lighting and that in this first phase only the bulbs have been replaced.
"EDEC will gradually continue to reinforce the lampposts as necessary. The new bulbs are 40 watts, which will illuminate our island very well. In the meantime, decorative lighting will be installed in the pedestrian street of the Furna community and in the Eugénio Tavares square in Nova Sintra," he said.
In this sense, the employee concluded that the replacement of the light bulbs will end at the end of this month.
